JACKSON, TN, August 29, 2025 — ReNew Biomedical hosted a celebration to honor a series of major achievements by its team, highlighting ReNew’s Training Academy and their continued leadership in healthcare technology training and certification.

Among the milestones recognized:

  • JL Morgan became the first graduate of the Tennessee Biomedical Technician Apprenticeship Program, a state-sponsored initiative aimed at developing skilled biomedical technicians.
  • Josh Weatherford, also of ReNew, previously became the first AAMI/DOL-registered biomedical apprentice in the country, making ReNew the only organization in Tennessee to produce both state and national “firsts” in biomedical apprenticeships.
  • Lidia Matthews, Chad Dunbar, and Thomas McSwain each passed the CABT (Certified Associate in Biomedical Technology) exam in May, the entry-level certification from the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).
  • Marty Zocher earned his CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) certification, a highly respected professional credential in the HTM (Healthcare Technology Management) field.
  • Tyler Smith, a member of ReNew’s leadership team, has successfully obtained the CHTM (Certified Healthcare Technology Manager) credential, reflecting advanced expertise in HTM leadership and operations.

Since launching its Training Academy in February 2021, ReNew Biomedical has trained 10 classes, producing 51 CABTs and 12 CBETs. This is a testament to the company’s commitment to developing a certified and skilled HTM workforce. Additionally, 10 ReNew technicians have passed their CompTIA IT Fundamentals+, expanding their competencies in health IT integration and support.

“We are incredibly proud of our team’s dedication to professional development,” said Richard Wood, Director of the ReNew Biomedical Training Academy. “These certifications represent more than just letters after a name, they reflect a standard of excellence, safety, and service that our clients and the healthcare community can rely on.”

The event welcomed several special guests from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, including:

  • Sabra Bledsoe, Regional Director for Greater Memphis
  • Roderick Woody, West TN Regional Apprenticeship Director
  • Allison Wright Donahoe, Regional Director for Southwest TN
Their presence underscored the growing partnership between ReNew and the state’s workforce development programs, aimed at building pathways into healthcare technology careers across Tennessee.
